2ND Working Group (WG2) meeting for the Resource Efficient Buildings
Prof. Dr. Sven Bienert as a consortium partner of RentalCal was invited to participate at the 2ND Working Group (WG2) meeting for the Resource Efficient Buildings study to develop a common EU framework of building environmental performance indicators on the 30.11.2016 in Brussels. He discussed the RentalCal results and functionalities with a high ranking group of representatives of ZIA, DGNB, WGBC and many other European organisations. Furthermore he stressed the need to more intensively clarify the link between the environmental KPIs developed by the working group and risk profile & value. Only visible impacts on property values will drive environmental friendly investment behaviour – RentalCal addresses this aspect and derives economic KPIs for market participants that intend to perform energetic retrofits for rented buildings.
Kai Möhrmann presented RentalCal and "The chain of effects of energy retrofit measures" at the SBE'16 conference in Tallinn.
On behalf of a team consisting of Tomas Vimmr, Thomas Lützkendorf, Iris Behr, Martin Vache and Alexandra Beer, Tomas Vimmr, STU-K presented a paper
DECISION SUPPORT TOOLS FOR ECONOMICALLY VIABLE ENERGY EFFICIENCY RETROFITTING IN THE EUROPEAN RENTAL HOUSING STOCK
The Horizon 2020 project RentalCal aims to develop models and tools for assessing the economic viability of energy efficiency retrofitting measures in the rental housing stock. RentalCal focuses on the current level of energy efficiency investments in the rental housing sector, which is in danger of missing EU policy targets. RentalCal aims to reduce split incentive barriers, activate the “added green value” proposition, and show a clear roadmap towards a sustainable rental housing market. This will be achieved by developing an innovative standardised methodology for assessing retrofits, taking into account the different national technical, legal, market and financial framework conditions. Furthermore, RentalCal will provide investors with a targeted web-based calculation tool and information platform.
